in the military they referred to it as a false dawn(first light before the dawn) and the second dawn is when the sun breaks the horizon.........there can't be that much time between the two to make a difference.........

Book experts enjoy fishing at sun up and sun down, so sun up would be the first dawn, sun down, the second dawn. Dawn of course meaning a changing of the skies. As far as learning from a book, it's not as good as going out there and learning from experience. Experience is the best teacher.
