I use spinners or jigs with fake worms for Bass. It really depends on if the water is clear enough for the fish to see your tackle. If the water is dirty and has low visability, the fish may not see your tackle.

Try catching your own shiners with a cast net or if at night lights in the water. I fish for striped bass at night tied under a bridge with two submersible lights from wal-mart ($15.00 each). After an hour or two you will have so many shad circling the boat ours starts spinning. Then we just snag one with a treble hook and drop it down below the shad. And the fun begins. You can all so use small bluegill.

Bunker chunks. You could also use clams, but usually only the cocktail bluefish will take clams in the back bays, nevertheless stripers munch on clams. You could also use mackerel chunks.

The 4" sassy shad no doubt works the best around here on the stripes
