Ive taken some small mouths that really fought hard, Id compare them to a freight train

pound for pound i would say the smallmouth from the niagara river in buffalo,they are some tough west siders.

In my years fishin' Bass (don't do em' no more), it definitely be the Smallmouth ~ pound for pound and then some ;)... < ' ( (( > <
Note: Ain't nothing like a river "Smalley", usin' an Ultra-light riggin', followed up with 4 # test ~ Ohhhhh' yes... |

Around here it is the spotted bass. The smalls and large mouths aren't even close

However, you may have left out the real winner. Ounce for ounce, I think the Bluegill fights the hardest |

From my experience, you have them listed in their proper order. Smallmouth kick butt!

depends what kind of fight you want.
hardest, smallmouth of the 3 to choose from. i like walleyes, they are more deep divers, just depends the fight you like. and the best could be either the Northern Pike, or Lake trout. |

absolutely agree, smallies are the most fun, and the hardest fighting fish. i love catching them in streams, they are even tougher than the ones in the lake.
