    Edit:
Wounder how many people know that most of BPS top quality reels are made by Pflueger. Shiamno's are nice if you got some extra $$$$ to throw around when with less money you can get the same bearing count and qulaity from Pflueger.

My personal favorite, is the Abu Garcia Ambassador line.
Ive had several of them of them, and all of them still work great.
Working on them is easy, 3 screws on each side, and spray with WD-40.
Ive never had one break or lock up on me.
The prices on them aren't bad at all, considering how long they last.
Heck, my dad has a couple he's had for over 20 years, and still work great with regular maintence!

Shimano... It's not even close on this one. Shimano is by far the best reel producer on the planet... they have over 75 baitcasters and all of them are great. But if i wasn't going to spend that much i would get a Bass Pro Shops reel. Bps are quality products and have a lifetime warranty and provide a nice bang for the buck.

    ABU Garcia/Ambassador.

I like the 5500C. I've been using Abu's for a long time. I'm sure Shimano's are good, but I just won't come off of the $ that they want for them.
